July 27

Drove the Cabot Trail today clockwise. We hit a detour right off the bay so that made the trip a little slow. Stopped at the Aucoin Acadian Bakery but it was busy and we didn’t see much (we had picked up a loaf of their bread at a store awhile back). Mom and I did the Skyline Trail again once we got into Cape Breton National Park. That trail is the only one that doesn’t allow dogs, so dad waited in the car with Nala. When we came through the Park gates there was no one on the gate selling tickets and we didn’t see the visitors centre they said to go to. The ranger gave dad a warning in the parking lot while he was waiting for us to do the trail. He said the visitors centre is hard to find, so sounds like they really need someone on the front gate. We had to pay near the end of the trail in Ingonish and then it would be fine.

After the trail. we continue on the trail out of the park (the trail keeps going in and out of the park). We hit The Rusty Anchor restaurant (everyone does) and got take out after a loooong line. Then we continue on through the trail. Mom ended up driving a lot of the way because dad doesn’t like the cliff side driving. We stopped at the Ingonish Beach when we paid the park fee. It was a nice beach and you could see the Keltic Inn lodge we stayed at last time (reminds me of Dirty Dancing!)

Third times a charm and we’re waiting et the Baddeck Lobster Supper. Got here an hour after they opened at 5 pm and still have a bit of a wait but it got much busier after we arrived. Trying to get to the Ceilidh at 7:30 pm on the lawn of the Gaelic College about 15 min sites down the street at the end of the trail.

    1. Thanks! We had to wait a half hour island time which ended up being more than an hour but we finally got into the restaurant! They had a bus tour of 40 come in which took up half of the restaurant.
