July 22

Heading to Moncton today via the Fundy Trail Parkway.

Made it to Moncton…so did a boys’ baseball team lol

We decided to go to the Hopewell Rocks during low tide today instead of Sunday so we could order this lumberjack picnic for Sunday on the Fundy Trail (I didn’t realize you had to order it 48 hours in advance).

Since it was too hot for Nala, I walked the trail down to the Hopewell Rocks twice, once with mom, then we ate take out lunch from the cafeteria there, then I went down to the ocean floor with dad (we didn’t realize it’s a bit of a walk down to them since on a tour they drive you right to them). We saw the mud flats too where the tide goes out to during low tide.

Tried to visit Cape Enrage, fairly close down a windy/bumpy road, but the fog rolled in and we just left. Normally there’s a lighthouse and you can see “enraged” rapids.

Saw the Sawmill Creek covered bridge and another random one that looked the same.

Stopped for a few minutes in Alma right outside Fundy National Park to see the boats out of the water during low tide. Moncton is more east/north, then Hopewell Rocks south of Moncton, then Cape Enrage, Alma, Fundy National Park, Fundy Trail Parkway from east to west.

On Sunday we’ll drive the 30 km Fundy Trail Parkway.

We got a tidal bore facing room in the hotel so we’ll just watch it come in around 6:15 pm tonight. Then a booked a table at the Magnetic Hill Winery a few minutes away.

We didn’t see the tidal bore; it either came early or late but we were watching 15 minutes before and after and didn’t see it. Now the water is blue and not moving at all…when we were watching it was brown and churning?!?!

The winery was good. We got a couple of charcuterie boards and they did the wine in a different way with jars.

The very calm Petitcodiac River
The professional fireworks display right outside our hotel window…fireworks seem to follow Nala around and she hates them!
