Last day in P.E.I. today. Going to start the day back at the Greenwich Dunes and hike (4.5 km). This trail is part of P.E.I. National Park, along with Cavendish and Brackley beaches (which includes Dalvay).
We’ll then head to Victoria-by-the-Sea to visit their chocolate shop and get a lobster roll.
Finally, hoping to have enough time to head into Charlottetown and check out the wharf and the historic district.
We did the Greenwich Dunes trail…Nala was super hot so I walked down with dad to the floating boardwalk, then did the same with mom while he took Nala to the car. It was a bit out of the way (we had decided it was too late to do it the other day just before we hit the accident when we were down that way), but we thought it’d be worth the effort. It’s part of P.E.I. National Park, but over an hour from Cavendish Beach (also part of P.E.I. National Park along with Brackley Beach).
On the way back from Greenwich, we stopped at Dalvay-by-the-Sea (where the Prince and Princess stayed). Then we drove through nearby Brackley (actually missed the stop for the beach but got the idea). A one-day pass is good for all of the beaches. Dogs aren’t allowed on the National beaches in the summer, but it was too hot anyway so they were all just quick stops.
Once we dropped Nala off, we continue to Victoria-by-the-Sea. The Amazing Race Canada came there one time. We went to Island Chocolates and had lobster rolls at the Lobster Barn.
On the way back we stopped at Cavendish beach right by the motel. We did the first part of the Dunelands trail to see the other lake that inspired the Lake of Shinning Waters.
Even though it was getting a bit late, we took Nala to historic Charlottetown to see Beaconsfield House and the spot again where MacDonald and others walked up to Province House for the Charlottetown conference on Confederation. When we came in 2016 Province House was being restored and it still is (maybe the pandemic set them back). Amos Pewter has lots of cute beachy knick knacks. I picked up a couple things last time in Halifax and got another cute tray that holds mini pewter shell bowls today.
It’s suppose to be a heat wave here today until Sunday. Hope it breaks soon because it makes it more tiring touring around.
Off to Moncton tomorrow!
