July 19

Rainy today…they’d been calling for rain all week on Tuesday so we switched what we were doing. Heading to the northernmost point of the island today. Nala still having tummy issues so hoping she’s ok today!

Decided not to drive al the way to North Cape, but started on the west side (the Acadian coast) at the Bottle Houses. Then went to the Canadian Potato Museum. Didn’t tour the museum as it mainly had old farm equipment, but tried the potatoes in their restaurant (chilli baked potato, poutine, and bread pudding). The West Point lighthouse was fairly close but just headed back after the museum.

The Chapel (one of three bottle houses – they’ve been here since I was born but rebuilt in the late 90s)
Fairy Garden
Six-Gabled House
The Tavern
Flowering potato crops

This is the West Point lighthouse in Cedar Dunes P.P. we didn’t get to…it’s actually an inn too
This is the North Cape we decided not to go to. The Wind Energy Institute of Canada is here and the longest natural rock reef (see back-left of picture). The day was just going so fast that even though you can get to either end of the island quickly, you still have to drive back.

Made it to the P.E.I. Preserve Co. for dinner. Dad tried to call ahead (there’s always a wait), but it didn’t take his name or something. After 20 minutes island time we got seated. Having the famous potato pie and the pie of the day for dessert. They sell various preserves we’ll check out later.

Actually had the rhubarb crisp as no one felt like the coconut cream pie. I tried the caramel black tea which was good. Got a few small jams: lemon ginger, very cherry, and strawberry rhubarb. This restaurant is the one we went to the last time when we did a one-day tour of the island. The tour guy at with us that time, so it was nice to not have that this time. Also, he took a very long time in the washroom after which cut into our itinerary.

This was the accident we were right at the start of yesterday. Luckily everyone was okay:

    1. Thanks! She’s been taking a med. every couple of days for washroom issues and it just seems a bit worse travelling but once we give her the med. it improves.
